Borneo, An Wonderfull City With Equator Monument
Many places are full of beauty in Indonesia. In this article, i will introduce a city on the borneo island of indonesia. The city names is pontianak, capital province of west borneo. You know equator monuments ? yeah, in there you will see a equator monument.
The Equator monument is located on the equator in Pontianak, Indonesia. It marks the division between the northern and southern hemispheres.
The monument consists of four iron wood poles, each with a diameter of about 0,30 metre, with frontage bollard height is two pieces as high as 3,05 radian place backside bollard and the signpost dart as high as 4,40 metres.
Equator Monument or monument located on the equator, North of Pontianak, West Kalimantan province. The location is about 3 km from the Centre of Pontianak, towards the city of Course.
This monument has become one of the tourist icon of the city of Pontianak and always visited the community, especially tourists who come to the city of Pontianak.

In the note mentioned that: based on records obtained in 1941 from v. tr. W by Opzichter Wiese quoted from Bijdragen tot de geographie of Chef topographischen Van den dienst in Nederlandsch-Indië: Den 31 Maart sten 1928 Pontianak has come in one international expedition led by a Netherlands-born geographer to define point/milestone equator line in the city of Pontianak by construction as follows:
Building the monument consists of 4 pieces of wood-proof milestone (iron wood), each in diameter 0.30 metres, with a height of milestone the front as much as two pieces as high as 3.05 meters and milestones the back place circles and arrows pointing the direction of as high as 4.40 metre.

B. 1930 perfected, shaped the milestone with lingkarang and arrows.
C. 1938 rebuilt with completion by opzicter/architech Silaban. The original monument can be seen on the inside.
D. Year of 1990, the Monument was renovated again by making the dome to protect original monument as well as the creation of a duplicate a monument with a size five times bigger than the original monument. Its inauguration on 21 September 1991.
